bRash ensemble, a group of artists, including established professionals and emerging artists

bRash and the nest are embarking on a new production, working title (only) “coming home…” we begin our first creative development in September, 2010 followed by another in October hopefully followed by a creative development performance in Galverston, Texas in February, 2011. Margi will be again working with her primary collaborator Dr.Leah Mercer, who will act as dramaturg and director. Margi is planning on starting the writing for the first creative development, and then will collaborate with LM to refine it throughout the next 18 months. The final performance will be in Perth and Brisbane in 2012.

bRash ensemble is a theatre company based on social constructionist values; we work as a collaborative with the nest (see below). we embrace a collaborative framework, addressing constructs including multiple stories/multiple selves, power, discourse and language. We devise work using collaged text, visual art and original musical scores from a narrative perspective. bRash ensemble incorporates emerging artists as part of the fabric of the ensemble, where they learn about the art of theatre from an experiential perspective, involving themselves in every element of theatre making and working alongside experienced professionals who will mentor and encourage excellence.

the nest is a theatre company that began with the devising of “The Knowings of Mary Poppins” (initially called “The Great Exception”): Leah was keen to form a new company that created new works; since that time we have collaborated on several theatre pieces, including Leah Mercer’s “A Mouthful of Pins”, which Margi Brown Ash directed in 2008; “Joey the Mechanical Boy” which Leah Mercer directed at Blue Room, in Perth, in 2010 and multiple seasons of the award winning “The Knowings of Mary Poppins”, conceived and directed by Leah Mercer.
